Abstract

The belief in the "evil eye" is one of the oldest human beliefs, and various cultures have proposed different remedies to protect against its effects. While some of these remedies may not be supported by rational and scientific reasoning, religious teachings also address this phenomenon. Therefore, it is important to explore the scientific basis of these teachings. The aim of this article is to answer the main question: "What are the scientific reasons for the scientific validity of religious teachings on proving the existence of the evil eye and protecting against it?" The research findings, obtained through a descriptive-analytical method using library and software sources, suggest that the scientific validity of the belief in the evil eye in religious teachings is supported by "arguments based on the supernatural nature of humans," "empirical arguments," and "rational arguments." Similarly, the protective measures against the evil eye in religious teachings, such as "reliance on God," "recitation of specific verses and supplications," "use of amulets," "use of salt," "covering oneself," etc., also have scientific foundations, as these measures are supported by "rational arguments."
