An Examination of the Model of Israelites Resistance in the Process of Institutionalizing the Discourse of Patience in Islamic Society

Document Type : Original Article

Abstract

The story of the former nations, the hardships and bitterness, the factors of their success and failure, their ups and downs is a lesson for the later nations. One of the objectives of the stories of the Qur'an is to provide the context for the induction and institutionalization of concepts and truths in which, except with the sweet language of the story, a hard and bitter medicine such as patience and perseverance cannot be put up with. The strategy of resistance in the Qur'an has been established and institutionalized through a wise process, based on the conditions and developments of society. Part of this process is the institutionalization of the discourse of resistance and patience in the context of explaining the model of Israelites resistance, which in this study, along with five categories of verses, are dealt with. In examining the relevant verses, the author has achieved thought-provoking results using the descriptive-analytical method and according to the discounting approach. Some of the findings are: 1. the request of the last degrees of patience by the repentant sorcerers in the face of the most severe tortures of Pharaoh was in accordance with the oppressive conditions of the Muslims in Mecca. 2. The issues raised regarding the liberation of the children of Israel from humiliation, the promise of the elimination of their powerful enemies, have been a necessity for the Muslims to resist in the difficult conditions of the Meccan period.
